American actor and rapper Earl Simmons, born December 18, 1970 and passed away April 9 2021. His debut album , It's Dark and hell is hot was launched in 1998. He began rapping during the 1990s. 251,000 copies of the album were sold within the first week. [5][6] In 1999, DMX released... and then There Was X. It featured the hit song "Party up (Up in Here). The singles from 2003 "Where the Hood At?" The 2003 singles, "Where the Hood at?" and "X Gon to Make It To Ya", were also commercially profitable. He was the first artist in history to make an album debut that reached No.1 in the Billboard 200 charts five times consecutively. 7 Overall, DMX sold over 74 million albums around the world. 8 DMX was featured in films such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, as well as Last Hour. He starred as DMX: Soul of a Man in 2006's reality television series. It was broadcast via the BET cable television network Never Die Alone. The show was followed by E.A.R.L., his memoirs in 2003. : The Autobiography of DMX. [9] DMX started his career in the music industry when he was 14, in 1984, when he beatboxed for Ready Ron. After serving time in prison for stealing a dog, He started writing his own songs and performed at the local rec center for the younger children. While in prison for carjacking the rapper began to devote a lot of his time to writing lyrics. He also met and rapped with K-Solo. He was released in summer of 1988 and started to produce and sell mixtapes of his own. In these mixtapes, the rapper rapped on songs from other artists and sold them on streets corners. This helped him create a local fanbase all across New York. DMX made an appearance on The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show in 1991, along with Percee P on which they both freestyled. [15The 15-year-old DMX would release a demo cassette featuring "Spellbound" along with "Critical Condition", Three Little Pigs", The Original Author of Spellbound as well as "Unstoppable Force" later that year. The design was like Big Daddy Kane's and Rakim's but different from his later material. Three years ago, The Source magazine praised DMX for his Unsigned Hype column, which featured unsigned hip hop artists. [16] That same year, Columbia Records signed DMX to its subsidiary label Ruffhouse Records, which released his first single "Born Loser". [17] He released his second single "Make A Move" in the year 1994. Jay-Z, Ja Rules, and Mic Gérardo were guests on the underground classic "Time to Build" from Mic Geronimo back in 1995.
